Serving FAQ
WHERE CAN I SIGN UP TO SERVE?
You can find our current volunteer sign-up form here!
IS THERE A PLACE AT CROSSWINDS FOR ME TO VOLUNTEER? Absolutely! While we understand that many people look at the size of CrossWinds and think that they can’t possibly make a difference, the truth of the matter is that you can. You don’t have to look very far to see that ministry opportunities abound, while people resources are in short supply. God is calling this church to make an impact. It will take all of our efforts together to fulfill this potential.
WHY SHOULD I VOLUNTEER...DO YOU REALLY NEED ME? Volunteers are the heartbeat of CrossWinds. Every week it takes hundreds of volunteers to make ministry happen, so YES...we need you! Serving allows you to be used by God to make a real difference in people’s lives.
HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE?
Our primary goal is for each person to be serving in a way that fits their God-given strengths and spiritual gifts. With that mindset, we encourage you to look for serving roles that allow you to do just that. We do realize, though, that some people simply want to serve where there is the greatest need. We always have room for more volunteers in our Children's Ministry, as well as our Usher and Greeter teams.
HOW DO I BEGIN SERVING? Each serving entry point may look a little different, but the most important first step is to let us know you are interested. Once you’ve narrowed down what ministry you are interested in, we will connect you with the appropriate ministry leader to take your next steps. For some ministries, you will be invited to check out that ministry in action. For others, you may need to first complete an application or interview. Either way, our desire is to make it easy for you to get involved.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A VOLUNTEER? Expectations will vary from role to role. However, you can rest assured there is a process in place to ensure that you are equipped and trained. Every role has a team leader whose responsibility is to set you up to win. The most important thing you can do is to show up and be ready to go when you say you will. Should you ever have any questions about what is expected of you, be sure to talk with your team leader. Good, open communication is the best method to ensure the serving opportunity is a good fit for both you and the ministry.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT? Whether you have one hour or ten hours to give, we have an opportunity that fits your availability. We have monthly, by-weekly, and weekly options varying by ministry and your level of commitment. We will do our best to be flexible with your schedule and are committed to finding a place that will work for you.
